Privacy Policy

Draft — not yet reviewed or adopted.

This text was written to describe what this website actually does, as a starting point. It has not been reviewed by the church or by legal counsel and is not yet in force. Please read it, correct anything that is wrong, and confirm it with the diocese before the site goes live.

St. Thomas' on the Bayou Episcopal Church is a parish, not a business. We do not sell information about you, and we do not use this website to advertise to you.

What this website collects

Information you send us

Our contact form asks for your name, your email address, a subject and a message. We receive exactly what you type. We use it to reply to you and, where it begins a continuing conversation, to keep in touch about it. We do not add you to a mailing list on the strength of a contact-form message.

You can always reach us without the form — by telephone on (318) 343-4089, by email, or in person on a Sunday.

Information collected automatically

As with most websites, our web server records ordinary technical details of a visit, such as which pages were requested and roughly when. This keeps the site working; it is not used to build a profile of you.

Services provided by other companies

Parts of this site are supplied by other companies. When your browser loads those parts it contacts those companies directly, and they may receive your IP address and set their own cookies. That happens under their privacy policies rather than ours:

  • Google Maps — the map showing our location on the Home, Worship Times and Contact pages.
  • Google Fonts — the typeface used throughout the site.
  • Google Translate — the language selector, if you use it.
  • Facebook — only if you follow a link to our page. We do not embed Facebook tracking in this site.

If you would rather these did not load, most browsers and privacy extensions can block third-party content. The rest of the site will still work.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies of its own. The third-party services listed above may set their own.

Children

This website is not designed to collect information from children. Photographs of children in parish life appear here with the permission of their families. If you would like a photograph of your child removed, contact the parish office and we will take it down.

How long we keep things

Messages sent through the contact form are kept as long as they are useful for replying and for parish records, and deleted when they are not. Ask us and we will tell you what we hold about you, or delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page.
